Fay Chen

I started at Deloitte Brisbane as a Consulting Strategy & Operations grad in March 2010, after completing law and economics degrees.  Since then, I have had the opportunity of working on industry projects, both on-site and in head office, for large national and international clients.

Recently, I have undertaken many systems and operations improvement projects on various mine sites in North Queensland and the NSW Hunter Valley, looking at identifying equipment performance opportunities and quantifying the value of improvements.

My day-to-day role involves designing and creating tools for better data capture and reporting, in order to support operational decision-making and strategy execution.

For example, I have built value driver models that link equipment performance (e.g. trucks and excavators) to production and financial outcomes.

Working on site is definitely a different experience, and one that I had never contemplated before starting at Deloitte. However, spending time ‘on the ground’ is definitely a must to truly understand operations.
