Since joining Deloitte as a graduate in Actuaries & Consultants, I’ve had the opportunity to gain rewarding experience in a variety of practice areas including: general, health and life insurance, banking and superannuation.

My experiences in the vacationer and graduate programs were amazing because of the supportive and inspiring people that I worked with. As a result, they have made me passionate about the signal ‘Recruit and Retain the Best’, which helps to enable other students to have a great start to their careers.

As a student at university, I attended and ran an actuarial careers event to learn more about the actuarial industry. I was able to mingle with speakers from a variety of companies including Deloitte and specialist actuarial firms. At the time I remember thinking: “One of these days, I’ll come back to speak on behalf of one of these companies”. I didn't imagine it would happen quite as quickly as it did, but within a few months of joining Deloitte I was invited to present at the same actuarial careers event at my old university!

The response I received from all of the students was fantastic, with one even asking: “Is everybody at Deloitte as friendly and enthusiastic as you are?”.

To make the experience even more memorable, two of the four graduates joining Actuaries & Consultants next year are students who attended the careers event where I presented. I’m looking forward to getting to know the graduates joining us next year, and my passion for recruiting and retaining top talent has been fuelled even further!
