Assurance & Advisory
Today’s changing economy needs outstanding professionals as trusted advisers. Our Assurance and Advisory (A&A) Services team provides just that.
What we do
Offering diverse audit and advisory services, we draw on our specialist skills and thorough understanding of our clients’ businesses and their industries to help them identify major risks and opportunities beyond the traditional financial reporting function and improve their business performance and objectives.
When you join Deloitte, you are encouraged to nominate the type of clients you wish to work with. Or, if you prefer, you are able to work across different client groups so, in due course you are able to determine where you would like to focus.
Deloitte’s A&A division consists of more than 800 employees nationally. Each employee is part of an industry group called a ‘cluster’, such as:
- Energy, mining and resources
- Property, Infrastructure and Construction
- Consumer Business
- Financial Services
Why join?
A&A offers a great career in accounting via the audit business. It will enhance your business acumen and expose you to a wide scope of accounting and commercial issues and clients. You will learn about different accounting systems and methods of accounting and will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to truly excel.
Deloitte provides assurance or advisory services to the majority of the Top 100 ASX companies with the service line continuing to experience rapid growth (doubling in the past 3 years).
What will I be doing as a graduate?
Everyday is different. No one day can be compared to the next as you will work with different clients and teams. From day one you will have direct contact with clients and deal with the basic components of the audit process. At every stage you are supported by your audit team and your assigned 'buddy' and will be an integral part of the whole process. The work is varied and you are also given the opportunity to gain experience in other service lines.
Professional qualification
Deloitte encourages and supports all A&A graduates in undertaking the CA (or equivalent program). As part of this of course, there are the exams which are quite tough. But let’s face it, if they were easy everybody would do them, and being a Chartered Accountant wouldn't look quite so good on your CV. To make life easier, Deloitte offers one of the leading CA support policies in the market which provides you with an opportunity to select from a number of options (study leave, lectures, study notes and a combination of these, within certain limits) to develop the support package to suit you.
Career progression
Don’t be surprised about the number of managers, directors and partners of different ages. Here, career progression is based on individual performance and merit, not tenure. Your progression is up to you. To ensure that you are meeting core competencies, you are provided feedback after each job and with such transferable skills, there are regular opportunities for interstate and international secondments to clients.
