Tax Services
Why Tax Services?
Every business transaction has a tax implication. It could mean the difference between success and failure. That's why our clients depend on us to see the big picture and to help them make the right choices.
In a globally connected economy, increasingly complex tax implications constantly arise for multinational companies. Deloitte’s global approach to serving clients is focussed on providing them with innovative ideas and seamless service delivery, and is underpinned by a commitment to invest in and develop leading tax technologies.
Our award-winning Tax Services division gives clients top-quality, practical advice informed by our analysis of their unique circumstances and the latest legislative developments in support of their domestic and international tax positions.
All Deloitte staff are encouraged to develop industry specialisations to better understand our clients’ needs and to serve them better. We work across a broad range of industries, including financial services, energy and resources, technology, media and telecommunications, life sciences and health care, and many more.
We believe in providing our team members with a fun and challenging environment to develop and sharpen their skills. We recognise the talent and hard work of our employees through formal programs like Tax Services’ ‘ThAnX’ award program.
We look for energetic people who enjoy helping others, solving complex problems, and who thrive on new challenges.
“For me, Deloitte is unique in the provision of Tax Services in Australia and this uniqueness stems from a blend of quality, creativity, innovative thinking, and a culture that recognises and develops talented individuals.” Elizma Bolt, Partner and Tax National People Partner
We work across a range of areas, including:
Corporate and International Tax – one of Australia’s leading corporate tax teams, with expertise in all aspects of tax accounting and planning, compliance, M&A services and tax structuring of investments, tax management consulting and tax controversy/disputes
Global employer services – our Australian practitioners work with colleagues across the Deloitte global network to help many of the world's largest employers solve taxation, immigration and other global mobility challenges for their staff
Indirect tax – we help clients navigate the complex and frequently changing raft of federal and state indirect taxes to find innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet their business needs
R&D and Government Incentives – our work involves working with clients across a wide spectrum of industries to help them identify opportunities to claim tax credits or cash rebates for R&D, as well as claiming Federal and State Government grants for a range of activities and projects
Transfer pricing – we create value by helping clients deal with the complex and dynamic issues they face in everyday inter-company transactions.
Why is Deloitte Tax Services ahead of the pack?
Deloitte Australia’s Tax Practice has maintained impressive momentum, growing by 10% last financial year (FY12), building on 15% growth the year before. We have excelled in a challenging economic market, continuing to take market share in Australia, most notably with companies in the ASX 100. Deloitte is now tax adviser to 9 of the ASX 10 and 15 of the ASX 20.
Our focus on innovation
Deloitte Tax Services, like our firm more broadly, is committed to innovation in everything we do. In the last few years, we have developed tax products like Tax Cube™, Input Tax Accelerator® and others that help meet our clients’ needs efficiently and effectively. We recently created a tax app that delivers tax and business news straight to clients’ mobiles.
Our innovative spirit is embodied in the Tax Innovation Sandpit – an online employee portal for sharing ideas for new products and services, and about how to do what we do even better.
What you'll be doing
Deloitte believes in empowering and trusting our staff. Taking responsibility for your development and making decisions about your career path are keys to a successful and fulfilling career. You'll have responsibility from day one and be encouraged to find out more about the work you want to do, so you can create the career you want.
You'll also have client responsibilities right from the start. This could involve speaking to a client to clarify information, or attending client meetings and advising them on the tax status of their business. Either way, it won't be long before you're on first-name terms with your main client contacts.
You will also have the opportunity to work on projects in cross-service line, multi-disciplinary teams with colleagues from across the firm, whether in Risk Services, Consulting, Audit and Advisory, Deloitte Digital or Australia’s leading economic forecasting practice, Deloitte Access Economics.
You're among friends
Importantly, you won't be alone. You'll meet a large group of like-minded people, learn from each other’s experiences and make long-standing friends. You'll be part of a collegial, dynamic and interactive team that pulls together to solve complex issues. We work professionally and focus on quality in all we do, but we also make time to have fun and celebrate our successes.
“My team at Deloitte represents a wonderful mix of energetic personalities and diverse tertiary backgrounds.
