Diversity
One size doesn’t fit all
We take diversity seriously. And it shows – in our firm-wide programs, our leadership commitment and our vision for what Deloitte can be.
Starting at the top. We have a Chief Diversity Officer -- Jane Allen, a cross-Canada Diversity Council and a dedicated team all focused on making diversity a reality at Deloitte. Each business group has goals focused on addressing specific diversity topics. And we ask each person to include a personal diversity goal in their development plan each year.
More than numbers. But the numbers don’t lie. We’re making sure that the faces of Deloitte are the faces of an increasingly diverse country. Last year, over 38% of new partners were women or visible minorities, up more than 10% from last year. And 17% of current leaders at Deloitte are women.
Developing women in business. We’re a member of Catalyst and the main sponsor of the Women of Influence Luncheon series. Last year’s lunch events brought almost 8,000 people together with their peers to ‘learn the ropes’ from successful Canadian business women. We’ve been recognized as a “Progressive Employer for Working Parents". And we operate programs to support women’s career development like Career Moms and the Step Up Women’s Mentoring program.
Making a connection. Our People Networks give employees the chance to join together, connect with one another, mentor others, raise awareness on issues that matter to them and reach out to the broader business community. Current People Networks include: LGBT Employees at Deloitte (LEAD); Canadian Women’s Initiative (CanWin); Canadian Asian Network (CAN) and the 50+ Network. They’re helping bring diversity to life every day.
Supporting new Canadians. We were named one of Canada’s Best Employers for New Canadians. We’re also the first corporate sponsor of Assisting Local Leaders with Immigrant Employment Strategies (ALLIES), a cross-Canada program which provides services and activities to support skilled immigrants. We also work with local community organizations dedicated to helping talented new Canadians succeed.
