Our Reading office
The Thames Valley is now one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing regional economies with a client base, infrastructure and professional services framework that is close to but entirely independent from the capital. Many major multinationals – such as Vodafone, Microsoft, Oracle, Motorola and Dell – choose to make their European headquarters close to Reading.
Our large practice there benefits from this booming environment: Deloitte has one of the largest offices in the region and is Deloitte’s largest office outside of London.
The office itself has just been renovated to the highest standard and has over 400 staff and 26 partners from all four service lines: Audit, Tax, Corporate Finance and Consulting
The atmosphere is ambitious and focused but also friendly, helping you to develop your skills through delivering outstanding client service. You will enjoy significant early responsibility and the opportunity to work as part of a close-knit team alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects. This broad-based experience, and Deloitte’s on-going commitment to your professional development, will provide a solid platform on which you can build a rewarding career.
The team works hard together, but also makes the most of opportunities to socialise. Informal get-togethers are frequent, supported by a wide range of social and sporting activities that enable you to further build relationships and extend your network of contacts.
We are the market leaders in the region for tax and so there is lots of scope to work on a variety of tax areas within the tax service line at our Reading office.

Over the past year the Deloitte Reading office has been totally refurbished to turn the building into a flagship, sustainable office. It has also enabled us to introduce new features for our staff including a gym, cafe and cycle facilities. The new Deloitte Gym in Reading is located in Abbots House and is open 7 days a week!
Making Abbots House a ‘greener’ office
As well as staff welfare and work requirements being a key part of the plans, operational efficiencies and minimising our impact on the environment has been at the forefront of the design. We have achieved a BREEAM ’Excellent’ rating (the industry best practice assessment model for sustainable building design) by incorporating the most efficient standards into each phase of the redevelopment.
Key sustainability features include:
- Reducing our future energy consumption through installing energy efficient air conditioning and heating systems, lights and sensor controls
- Reducing our water usage by installing sensor taps, dual flushes and water efficient showers
- Reducing the need to travel with the installation of five new HD video conferencing units
- Providing cycling facilities to allow more staff to cycle to work, and developing green travel plans

Deloitte in the community
In the Reading office we are involved in various community projects including community days which take place each year. We have local office charities that we support and fundraise for throughout the year. We have 2 or 3 local projects a year, each involving approximately 40 members of staff to work in the local community.
We have also provided a large number of runners to the Reading half Marathon, with people taking part on either an individual basis or part of a relay team and have strong representation in the Deloitte’s Ride Across Britain.
We have a number of sporting teams, including football who as well as competing in local 11 a side and 5 a side leagues, take part annually in a tournament held in Prague.
Diversity at Deloitte
We are determined to build an organisation that reflects the world around us and the world in which our clients operate. We’re also aware that when it comes to top talent, demand far exceeds supply. And nowhere is this more apparent than when it comes to bringing the best talent into our organisation. That’s why we're pushing hard to become a place where the most talented people can do their best work, progress quickly and fulfil their potential – irrespective of their backgrounds. Diversity is, therefore, a key part of our recruitment strategy.
