Deloitte National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition
The Deloitte National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (NCCDC) is an event that allows teams of undergraduate and graduate students at universities across the United States to exercise their academic and technical education and compete in a business-oriented, defensive information assurance competition. NCCDC is the first competition system that specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing "commercial" network infrastructure.
NCCDC is unique in that it focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing network infrastructure. Teams are scored based on their ability to detect and respond to outside threats, maintain availability of existing services such as mail servers and web servers, respond to business requests such as the addition or removal of additional services, and balance security needs against business needs.
“The NCCDC is a great way for motivated students to demonstrate their job skills to sponsors like Deloitte who are actively involved in the competition and to other companies who may want to hire them,” said J.R. Reagan, principal, Deloitte & Touche LLP and head of the Center for Federal Innovation. “Given today’s competitive job market, students who are looking for a way to meet potential employers will find that being part of the NCCDC will work to their advantage.”
