It's your career. Government is big business. Not-for-profits, too. Whether at the federal, state or local levels, the public sector provides many services often taken for granted by citizens. Public safety. Clean air and water. Health and human services. Education. Roads. Airports. And much, much more.   As  a consultant in Deloitte's Public Sector practice, you’ll help apply leading business principles so tax dollars are put to work with the most efficiency, accountability and transparency possible for our nation’s most needed services.  Joining our team comes with unending opportunities to make a difference across a wide range of constituencies.  How far will you take it?

For the people’s sake

As a consultant focused on the public sector, you’ll use your graduate degree and prior experience to help address a wide range of complex, challenging issues that face public and not-for-profit agencies, both day-to-day and long-term. Our practice areas include:

  • Defense and Intelligence
  • Finance and Administration
  • Health and Human Services
  • Homeland Security
  • Law and Justice
  • Transportation

In these practices, you’ll be part of a collaborative project team that provides our clients with solutions to help address their most critical challenges. In fact, you’ll help develop solutions and policies that can help transform the way government does business. While the work you do may not always be in the public’s view, you can rest assured that you’ve helped make a difference in their world and yours.

Choose your own path

As a consultant, you may choose to specialize immediately, but chances are you’ll spend your first two or three years on a variety of assignments that reflect the range of services we provide and public sectors we serve. To enhance your career growth, we provide you with strong support that includes mentoring and counseling, continuous training, and ongoing goal setting and feedback to help you achieve your goals. Best of all, our principals, directors, and senior managers work side by side with you to help hone your skills – and to see that your personal contributions are recognized and rewarded.
